Bring your own AOW and workplace pension estimates. See how accessible savings could cover the gap between your income and the life you want to fund.

01

AOW: your public pension

The Dutch system combines AOW, pensions built through work and individual provision. AOW is administered by the SVB. Insurance history and household circumstances matter, so a headline full rate is not a personal estimate. Use your own forecast and start date.

02

Keep workplace pensions separate

Use Mijnpensioenoverzicht and statements from your pension providers to gather expected payments. Check whether a displayed total already includes AOW before splitting it into the calculator's fields. A projected payment is income; the assets funding that same payment must not also be entered as accessible savings.

03

An early retirement bridge

Leaving work and receiving AOW need not happen together. In the gap years, you may need more accessible savings. This calculator models your chosen dates, not a legal right to access a pension. Ask each provider about its own conditions before assuming a payment can start earlier.

Using the calculator

  1. Collect your AOW and provider estimates for the retirement dates you want to compare.
  2. Use monthly amounts after tax, expressed in today's euros. Divide annual amounts by 12 and check how holiday payments are treated.
  3. Enter accessible savings separately, then try a later pension start, lower returns and a longer planning horizon.
